Marked 6

MARKED 6
History Lesson
By Zachary Smith

PAGE 1.  PANEL 1.
KALLISTE, HANDCUFFED, IS SMOKING IN A PRISON WAITING ROOM.  SHE IS LOOKING AT THE TWO WAY MIRROR.  NO DIALOGUE.

PAGE 1.  PANEL 2.
WE NOW SEE HER REFLECTION IN THE TWO WAY MIRROR, AS SHE ASHES HER CIGARETTE.  NO DIALOGUE.

PAGE 1.  PANEL 3.
WE ARE NOW BEHIND THE TWO WAY MIRROR, THERE ARE TWO MEN TALKING.  ONE IS THE WARDEN, JAMES LUKE (AGE 58), OF THE PRISON, THE OTHER IS A REPRESENTATIVE FROM THE GOVERNMENT, AGENT SEYMOUR CHAUMERS (AGE 37).  4 ARMED PRISON GAURDS ARE BEHIND  THEM.

CHAUMERS:  She is a sight.  All those tattoos.  How long do you suppose that she’s
                          been operating without us knowing?

LUKE:  No clue, Agent Chuamers, all I know is that I want her out of my prison.  I’ve
got the blacks, Mexicans, and Whites acting all kinds of weird.   These ladies are
usually stealing, stabbing, and killing.  Ever since she’s been here, nothing.

CHAUMERS:  I would think that is a good thing, no?

PAGE 1.  PANEL 4.
LUKE LEADS CHAUMERS OUT OF THE DOOR.

LUKE:  Hmm.  Makes me think they’re planning a riot.

CHAUMERS:  I could see how that would have you on edge, Mr. Luke.

LUKE:  James is fine.  Last thing I need is some martyr to instigate, so if you are going to
take her out of her, do so quietly, and politely.  I don’t want to give these women
              any ideas.

CHAUMERS:  I will definitely be quiet, but how peaceful depends on her.  She took out
a precinct, or at least that was the story and video I saw.

PAGE 1.  PANEL 5.
THE TWO MEN ARE STANDING OUTSIDE THE WAITING ROOM, LUKE IS UNLOCKING THE DOOR FOR CHAUMERS.

DIALOGUE CONT.

CHAUMERS: Bath salts is the answer I keep hearing, but does that mean the officer who
saw her fly was high on them as well?  We have an unknown entity here,
and I’m not afraid to admit it is scary.

LUKE:  It’s time to nut up then, son.  This girl has everyone scared, let’s not let her in on
              that.

PAGE 2. PANEL 1.
CHAUMERS ENTERS THE ROOM, LUKE DOES NOT.

KALLISTE:  Warden not coming in?

CHAUMERS:  He has other matters to attend to.

KALLISTE:  Hmm.  I can smell the fear on him.

CHAUCERS:  Must be hard through the cigarettes.

KALLISTE:  No.

PAGE 2.  PANEL 2.
KALLISTE IS SMILING, AS CHAUMERS IS SEATED, PUTTING A TAPE RECORDER ON THE TABLE.

KALLISTE:  I can smell it on you as well.

CHAUMERS:  It’s impolite to point out someone’s faults, didn’t you ever hear that?

KALLISTE:  Then why point out the smoking.

CHAUMERS:  That stuff will kill you.

PAGE 2.  PANEL 3.
KALLISTE PUTS THE CIGARETTE OUT, LOOKING DIRECTLY AT CHAUMERS.

KALLISTE:  I keep trying, but it just doesn’t seem to work.

CHAUMERS:  Bit of a death wish?  That would explain why you decided to take on half
                          the L.A.P.D.

KALLISTE:  That was more of a workout.  You’ll notice, not a single one is dead.

CHAUMERS:  That’s what the file indicates, yes.

PAGE 2.  PANEL 4.
KALLISTE IS LEANING FORWARD, LIGHTING ANOTHER CIGARETTE.

KALLISTE:  Who are you?

CHAUMERS:  F.B.I.  I investigate the odd reports and cases.  Like when a woman is
reported to have breathed fire, flown, and fought off hordes of well
                         armored police.

DIALOGUE CONT.

KALLISTE:  Well armored, not well trained.

CHAUMERS:  Not very nice to the men who didn’t shoot you.

KALLISTE:  Ha!  I’ll give myself credit for that one.  Agent…

CHAUMERS:  Chaumers.  The important question is, who are you?

PAGE 2.  PANEL 5.
KALLISTE HAS PULLED HER DRAG, AND IS EXHALING.

KALLISTE:  Me?  I’m no one.

CHAUMERS:  Your fingerprints would seem to indicate that.  As would your birth
certificate and your social security number.  Are you a spy?  And if so,
why have you allowed yourself to be not only caught, but interrogated as
                          well.

KALLISTE:  Is that what this is?

CHAUMERS:  Sort of.  What’s with all the tattoos?

KALLISTE:  I’ll tell you a story.

PAGE 3.  PANEL 1.
WE ARE ON A CHINESE RIVER BANK.   A YOUNG BOY AND YOUNG GIRL ARE GATHERING FISH INTO BASKETS.
THE YOUNG GIRL HAS A TATTOO AROUND HER NECK.

KALLISTE (CAPTION):  “There was a peaceful village in China, along a river.  These
were farmers and fishermen.  Not warriors.”

PAGE 3.  PANEL 2.
A FOOT CRASHES INTO THE RIVER.

KALLISTE (CAPTION):  They never stood a chance.

PAGE 3.  PANEL 3.
THE YOUNG BOY IS KILLED BY A MARAUDER AND THE YOUNG GIRL IS TAKEN AWAY.

KALLISTE (CAPTION):  Marauders would come through and take the young girls, killing whoever stood in there way, to do with them what they will.

KALLISTE (CAPTION):  I wish I could say times have changed.  Anyway…

PAGE 3.  PANEL 4.
THE VILLAGE ELDERS ARE SITTING AROUND A CAMPFIRE, WHILE ONE OF THE ELDER WOMEN SPEAKDS.  ALL OF THE WOMEN HAVE TATTOO ADORNMENTS, BUT NOT ON THEIR FACES.  KALLISTE IS IN THE CROWD.

KALLISTE:  They had decided to take their local art form and apply it to something to make them more.

KALLISTE:  These marking that indicated their womanhood would now be used to ward off the evil that was visited upon them.

PAGE 3.  PANEL 5.
YOUNG GIRLS ARE HAVING TATTOOS APPLIED TO THEIR FACES, CRYING AS IT HAPPENS.

KALLISTE:  The mothers hated to do this before it was time, but it was necessary to keep their daughters safe.

PAGE 3.  PANEL 6.
A MARAUDER IS LOOKING AT A YOUNG GIRL, HE IS HESITANT TO TOUCH HER.

KALLISTE:  It worked.  These men were either scared to touch them, or found them too repulsive to take with them.  Either way, their goal had been achieved.
PAGE 3.  PANEL 7.
THE MARAUDER LEAVES, THE GIRL GOES BACK TO HER WORK.

KALLISTE (CAPTION):  The women were safe.

CHAUMERS (CAPTION):  Is that why you have tattoos?

PAGE 4.  PANEL 1.
KALLISTE SMILES.

KALLISTE:  I have some from that region, yes.  My cheeks and nose share the dots of my sisters.

CHAUMERS:  And what of the others.

PAGE 4.  PANEL 2.
KALLISTE SHOWS HIM THE WOLF ON HER LEFT FOREARM.

KALLISTE:  Some are to honor friends who have passed.

PAGE 4.  PANEL 3.
KALLISTE IS SHOWING HIM THE RUNES ON HER SHOULDERS.

KALLISTE:  Some were to expand my knowledge.

PAGE 4.  PANEL 4.
KALLISTE SHOWS HIM THE RINGS ON HER RIGHT FOREARM.

KALLISTE:  Some were as a punishment.  But I learned to embrace these as well, they helped me fit in.

PAGE 4.  PANEL 5.
CHAUMERS POINTS AT HER CHEST AND NECK.

CHAUMERS:  And those?  According to the guards, you are the most tattooed person they have ever seen.  I could spend all day here listening to you tell me what each one means, but I…

KALLISTE:  Oh good, I’m not planning on going anywhere right now, so let’s talk about
                      them.

PAGE 5.  PANEL 1.
KALLISTE IS HAVING HER CHEST TATTOOED BY A WOMEN.  WE ARE NOW IN MAORI, AROUND 1850.  SHE HAS A LOT OF HER OTHER TATTOOS TOO, MJOLNIR, RUNES, KANJI, DRAGON/ONI MASK, RINGS, ANIMALS, WOLF,

KALLISTE  (CAPTION):  Did you know we have matrilineal society’s?  I know it’s
hard to believe that men would turn the keys over to a
woman, but these society’s exist.  There is very little mixture
of women from outside the tribe, but a lot of men get
introduced, if you know what I mean.

PAGE 5.  PANEL 2.
KALLISTE IS NOW HAVING HER NECK TATTOOED BY THE SAME WOMAN.

KALLISTE (CAPTION):  The Maori hold sacred their tattoos.  They display rank, status,
and the soul of the person.  This was one of the most difficult
                                           tattoos to get done.

PAGE 5.  PANEL 3.
KALLISTE IS NOW HAVING HER CHIN TATTOOED.

KALLISTE (CAPTION):  You had to earn the respect of these women, which was no easy task.  These tattoos were sacred, not punishments, or markings of property, like other cultures might use them for.  They showed that you were something in that society.

PAGE 5.  PANEL 4.
A SHIP IS APPROACHING, THE TATTOO ARTIST AND KALLISTE LOOK.  IT IS A BRITISH MAN-O-WAR, CIRCA 1850’S.

KALLISTE (CAPTION):  But of course, how one people view something as beauty,
                                           others hold it as novelty.

PAGE 5.  PANEL 5.
SAILORS ARE GETTING OFF THE SHIP, ROWING TOWARDS THE SHORE.  THE MAORI PEOPLE GATHER ON THE BEACH, CURIOUS TO SEE THESE MEN.

KALLISTE (CAPTION):  Like always, somebody has to go and fuck it all up.

PAGE 6.  PANEL 1.
KALLISTE AND A MAORI MAN ARE ON THE SHIP WITH THE BRITISH.  THE CAPTAIN IS DINING WITH THEM.  IN HIS CABIN.

KALLISTE (CAPTION):  “The British were in the habit of treating as a novelty.  At the
least the higher ups did.  The underclass seemed…”

PAGE 6.  PANEL 2.
KALLISTE AND THE MAORI TRIBES MAN ARE TALKING TO THE SAILORS.  THEY ARE SHOWING OFF THEIR TATTOOS TO THEM, AND THE MEN ARE VERY INTERESTED IN THEM.

KALLISTE (CAPTION):      ”…genuinely interested in us as people.  They wanted to
know what these symbols meant, not only to our people, but
                                               to us as individuals.”

PAGE 6.  PANEL 3.
THE BRITISH ARE SHOWING THEIR SWALLOW AND SPARROW TATTOOS TO KALLISTE AND THE MAORI TRIBESMAN.

KALLISTE (CAPTION):  “These men understood that these weren’t markings to
condemn or to alienate.  They had meaning, they represented
                                           thoughts, ideas, accomplishments.”

PAGE 6.  PANEL 4.
WE’RE IN A BALLROOM, AS THE ARISTOCRATS OF ENGLAND ARE STARING AT KALLISTE AND THE MAORI TRIBESMEN.

KALLISTE (CAPTION):  “We were just a trend to others.  It came to the point that even
the highest in the society thought these markings were worth
their time and money.  After a hundred years, it was to the
                                           point where…”

PAGE 6.  PANEL 5.
THE CORONATION PICTURE OF GEORGE V.

KALLISTE (CAPTION):   “…the King himself had himself adorned with Japanese
                                              tattoos and a Jerusalem cross.”

PAGE 7.  PANEL 1.
AGENT CHAUMERS HAS A COFFEE CUP IN FRONT OF HIM, KALLISTE HAS ANOTHER CIGARETTE.

CHAUMERS:  These are all fascinating stories, but what do they have to do with you?

KALLISTE:  They have everything to do with me.  I’m telling you the history of these
                      markings, which is my story.

CHAUMERS:  Did you travel to these different countries to get these?  How did you do
so?  Faked passports and visas?  You’re so young, most of these had to
have been done only recently.  Post 9/11 world requires documentation.

PAGE 7.  PANEL 2.
KALLISTE LAUGHS.

KALLISTE:  Or good faked documentation.

CHAUMERS:  Your documents would pass muster, but under serious scrutiny they fall
                          apart.  Who was your contact?

KALLISTE:  No one.  I’m just a good artist.

CHAUMERS:  Did you make all of them?

KALLISTE:  Yes.

PAGE 7.  PANEL 3.
CHAUMERS LOOKS SURPRISED.

CHAUMERS:  I know you’ve already waved your right to a lawyer, but why continue to
freely incriminate yourself.  I’ve not offered you any sort of deal for this
                         information.

KALLISTE:  Because it doesn’t matter.  I won’t be here much longer.

CHAUMERS:  I have not told you whether or not we will be taking you.

PAGE 7.  PANEL 4.
KALLISTE IS LEANING FORWARD.

KALLISTE:  But I’ve piqued your interest.  Just like the Maori were a novelty to the
British, I am now a novelty to the government.  A nonexistent woman who
has fought off a police precinct, and caused a virtual peace in a prison.  No
visible gang tattoos, that indicate any sort of faction.
PAGE 7.  PANEL 5.
TIGHT SHOT OF KALLISTE’S EYES.

KALLISTE:  I am no one, yet I bear the markings of everyone.

PAGE 7.  PANEL 6.
CHAUMERS LOOKS UNCOMFORTABLE.

CHAUMERS:  So tell me where you come from then, where you learned to fight?

PAGE 8.  PANEL 1.
A GROUP OF SAILING AMAZONS ARE ATTACKING A SHIP.
KALLISTE IS PROMINENT AMONG THE AMAZONIAN WARRIORS.

KALLISTE (CAPTION):  “The Amazon’s were proficient warriors in sword, bow, and
hand to hand combat.  There is debate as to the meaning of
their name.  Some say it means warrior, to make war,
without husband.  My personal favorite: virility killer.  They
lived, basically untouched, for many years.  It was paradise.”

CHAUMERS (CAPTION):  “Amazons?  You can’t expect me to believe that.”

KALLISTE (CAPTION):  “You can believe what you want.”

PAGE 8.  PANEL 2.
KALLISTE IS WITH THE PICTS, FIGHTING ROMAN SOLDIERS.

KALLISTE (CAPTION):  “The Picts marked themselves with dye and tattoos.  They also
allowed women to fight amongst their ranks.  They didn’t
care what you had downstairs, it was enough that you could
                                             hold a weapon.”

PAGE 8.  PANEL 3.
KALLISTE IS SHOWING FREYA HOW TO HOLD A SPEAR.  FEN IS WATCHING.

KALLISTE (CAPTION):  “The Vikings taught their wives and daughters the art of the
spear to defend their homes when they were gone.  They
understood that the homestead should be defended.”

PAGE 8.  PANEL 4.
A THIN KNIGHT STANDS VICTORIOUS ON A BATTLEFIELD, WITH OTHERS WHERE THE SAME MARKING AS HER:  THE COAT OF ARMS FOR JOAN OF ARC.

KALLISTE (CAPTION):  “The French allowed a girl to lead them into battle.  With her
unorthodox tactics, she was able to make some substantial
victories against the English.  It mattered not to her if a
soldier was a woman, as long as she could ride, and strike.”

PAGE 8.  PANEL 5.
KALLISTE IS PRACTICING WITH A KATANA, THE ONI/DRAGON BACK TATTOO ON DISPLAY.

KALLISTE (CAPTION):  “Some groups were so desperate for members that they just
                                            wanted someone who could fight.”

DIALOGUE CONT.

CHAUMERS (CAPTION):  “This doesn’t tell me anything about you.”

PAGE 9.  PANEL 1.
KALLISTE AND CHAUMERS ARE STARING AT EACH OTHER.  NO DIALOGUE.

PAGE 9.  PANEL 2.
TIGHT SHOT OF KALLISTE’S FACE.

KALLISTE:  What do you mean?

PAGE 9.  PANEL 3.
TIGHT SHOT OF CHAUMERS FACE.

CHAUMERS:  This little history lesson is just a diversion.  Why are you biding time?

PAGE 9.  PANEL 4.
KALLISTE IS LAUGHING.

KALLISTE:  You’re right.  I am stalling.  But where your wrong is that I’m telling you
                      more than I’ve told anyone.

PAGE 9.  PANEL 5.
CHAUMERS APPEARS ANGRY.

CHAUMERS:  These things have nothing to do with you.

KALLISTE:  Wrong again.

PAGE 9.  PANEL 6.
KALLISTE IS SMILING.

KALLISTE:  I was there for everything I described to you.  I could tell you the trees that
grew there, the type of grass that soaked up the blood, how many people I
killed at each site.  All that I’ve said has everything to do with me.

PAGE 9.  PANEL 7.
CHAUMERS LOOKS CONFUSED.

CHAUMERS:  You’re just trying to confuse me.  Continuing to stall.  For what?

PAGE 9.  PANEL 8.
TIGHT SHOT OF KALLISTE’S EYES.

KALLISTE:  For this.

PAGE 10/11 DUAL SPLASH PAGE.

KALLISTE IS BREAKING HER HANDCUFFS AND THROWING THE TABLE OVER AGENT CHAUMERS, AT THE TWO SIDED MIRROR.  NO DIALOGUE.

PAGE 12.  PANEL 1.
4 GUARDS ARE ABOUT TO FIRE ONTO KALLISTE.  THE WARDEN IS BEHIND THEM.

GUARD 1:  FREEZE!

KALLISTE:  I think you should take your own advice.

PAGE 12.  PANEL 2.
KALLISTE IS HOLDING CHAUMERS HOSTAGE.

KALLISTE:  Anything you fire is going through him first.

CHAUMERS:  This isn’t going to help you.

KALLISTE:  I don’t need help.  I’m guilty, remember?  I set him on fire, which caused him to catch the cop on fire.  I assaulted lord knows how many officers, and I admitted to forging documents.  You got me.  This isn’t about help.

PAGE 12.  PANEL 3.
3 OF THE GUARDS ARE CRAWLING INTO THE ROOM.

KALLISTE:  Hold it right there.  You’re not getting in here, or I’ll snap his neck.

CHAUMERS:  You don’t want this.

KALLISTE:  You’re right.  I don’t want to be here.  I miss my home.

PAGE 12.  PANEL 4.
KALLISTE BREAKS THROUGH THE WALL BEHIND HER, WHILE STILL HOLDING CHAUMERS.

GUARD 2:  Oh shit.  I heard what she can do man.

PAGE 12.  PANEL 5.
GUARD 3 PEAKS THROUGH THE HOLE.

GUARD 3:  I don’t see anything.

PAGE 12.  PANEL 6.
THE TATTOOED HAND OF KALLISTE GRABS THE GUARD BY THE THROAT.

KALLISTE:  Because I didn’t want you to.

PAGE 13.  PANEL 1.
GUARD 2 IS RUNNING OUT OF THE ROOM.  GUARD 1 AND 4 ARE APPROACHING THE HOLE.  NO DIALOGUE.

PAGE 13.  PANEL 2.
THE BENT RIFLE OF GUARD 3 RICHOTS OFF THE HEAD OF GUARD 1 INTO GUARD 4.

KALLISTE:  One left.

PAGE 13.  PANEL 3.
GUARD 2 IS OUTSIDE TO THE LEFT OF THE PRISON WAITING ROOM.

GUARD 2:  Inhuman, inhuman, inhuman.

PAGE 13.  PANEL 4.
THE DOOR COMES BURSTING OFF IT’S HINGES INTO GUARD 2, KNOCKING HIM OUT.

PAGE 13.  PANEL 5.
A CUFFED CHAUMERS EXITS THE DOOR, KALLISTE IS BEHIND HIM.

KALLISTE:  We better get going before their friends get here.  I’m sure they don’t want
their asses handed to them by a woman.

PAGE 13.  PANEL 6.
JAMES LUKE IS PEARING OUT OF THE WRECKAGE OF THE TWO WAY MIRROR.

LUKE:  Where?

PAGE 13.  PANEL 7.
LUKE IS PUNCHED IN THE FACE.

KALLISTE:  Right next to you.

PAGE 14.  PANEL 1.
KALLISTE AND CHAUMERS WALK DOWN THE HALLS.

CHAUMERS:  Where is home?

KALLISTE:  Probably at the bottom of the ocean by now.  I haven’t been there in a long
                      time.

CHAUMERS:  Did you live on a ship?

PAGE 14.  PANEL 2.
KALLISTE IS LAUGHING.

KALLISTE:  You still do not get who I am?

CHAUMERS:  What you were telling me is impossible.  That would make you…

KALLISTE:  Immortal?

PAGE 14.  PANEL 3.
KALLISTE AND CHAUMERS COME UPON THE DOOR OF THE WARDEN.  KALLISTE IS TRYING THE KNOB, BUT IT IS LOCKED.

CHAUMERS:  But that’s impossible.

KALLISTE:  Most likely.  I’m sure I can die.  I’ve been drowned, hung, stabbed, burned,
strangled, but none of them seem to stick.

PAGE 14.  PANEL 4.
KALLISTE BREAKS THE DOOR DOWN.

CHAUMERS:  And your strength, is that part of it too?

KALLISTE:  Not at first.  Each new mark adds something.  Maybe the proportional
strength of this spider on my left hand.  Or the hammer of Thor may imbue
me with his strength.  Yet I could never make it rain.

PAGE 14.  PANEL 5.
CHAUMERS IS IN THE OFFICE WITH HER.  SHE IS SEATED BEHIND THE WARDEN’S DESK.

CHAUMERS:  What do you plan on doing?

KALLISTE:  Just going to make a simple announcement.

PAGE 15.  SPLASH PAGE.
THE PRISON GROUND OUTSIDE.

KALLISTE:  “Ladies, can you hear me?  Let me know.”

LADIES:  Tatuaje.

KALLISTE:  “That’s good to hear.  Listen please.  I’ve not been here long, but in that
short time you have made me welcome.”

PAGE 16.  PANEL 1.
A MEXICAN WOMAN IS HELPING A BLACK WOMAN IN THE LIBRARY.

KALLISTE (LOUDSPEAKER):  “You halted fights with each other when I asked you to
stop to show that you respected me.”

PAGE 16.  PANEL 2.
GAURDS ARE RUNNING PAST A PRISON CELL, THE WOMAN INSIDE SITS CALMLY.

KALLISTE (LOUDSPEAKER):  “You refused to give into the guards demands for sex,
even if it cost you a tampon or food that day.”

PAGE 16.  PANEL 3.
A PREGNANT WOMAN IS IN THE LUNCH HALL LOOKING UP AT THE SPEAKER.

KALLISTE (LOUDSPEAKER):  “You let me help you, even when you didn’t know
                                                       me.”

PAGE 16.  PANEL 4.
WOMEN ARE LOOKING UP FROM THE YARD AT THE LOUDSPEAKER.

KALLISTE (LOUDSPEAKER):  “All you knew was what I had did:  I didn’t let them
beat me.  This was good enough for you, and for that I
                                                       thank you.”

PAGE 16.  PANEL 5.
KALLISTE IS SPEAKING IN THE OFFICE.

KALLISTE:  This is the hard part though.  I must leave, and I cannot take you with me.
They will use violent force to try and bring me back, and I cannot risk
having any of you hurt in such a confrontation.

PAGE 16.  PANEL 6.
KALLISTE IS GETTING UP FROM THE SEAT.

KALLISTE:  But know this:  I have an open invitation to my new and old home of Atlantis.  I have no children, but what I will give to the world in Atlantis is what we have proven in here can exist.  We can get along, we can be equal.  We can make a heaven out of hell.  We did that, here.  In prison.  Nothing can stop us.

PAGE 17.  PANEL 1.
ARMED GUARDS ARE RUSHING INTO THROUGH THE STAIRS.  NO DIALOGUE.

PAGE 17.  PANEL 2.
THE SAME GUARDS ARE NOW RUSHING THROUGH A HALLWAY.
NO DIALOGUE.

THE GUARDS NOW HAVE THEIR GUNS POINTING INTO THE ROOM.
KALLISTE LOOKS AT THEM.

LEAD GUARD:  Surrender!

PAGE 17.  PANEL 4.
KALLISTE LOOKS AT CHAUMERS.

KALLISTE:  I needed to stall for this, it just takes so much out of me.

PAGE 17.  PANEL 5.
KALLISTE JUMPS OUT OF THE WINDOW, BULLETS ARE FIRING AT HER.

LEAD GUARD:  Fire!

PAGE 18.  PANEL 1.
THE GUARDS ARE LOOKING OUTSIDE THE WINDOW.

LEAD GUARD:  Get down there.  She couldn’t have gone far.

PAGE 18.  PANEL 2.
THE GUARDS RUN PAST CHAUMERS AS HE IS GETTING UP TO LOOK OUT THE WINDOW.

CHAUMERS:  My god.  I can’t believe…

PAGE 18.  PANEL 3.

CHAUMERS:  Where could she have gone off to?

KALLISTE (OFF PANEL):  No where yet.

PAGE 18.  PANEL 4.
CHAUMERS LOOKS UP.

CHAUMERS:  Who are you?

PAGE 18.  PANEL 5.
KALLISTE IS SMILING AND WAVING AT CHAUMERS AS SHE WAVES AT HIM.

KALLISTE:  The Greek who named me called me Kalliste, Kolla is my Scandenavian name, and the Japanese called me Oni Ryu.

CHAUMERS:  What is your real name?

PAGE 19.  SPLASH PAGE.
KALLISTE IS FLYING OFF, AS CHAUMERS WATCHES.

CHAUMERS:  Beautiful.

PAGE 20.  PANEL 2.
KALLISTE MAKES A BUNDLE OUT OF HER COAT TO SLEEP ON IN THE CARGO HOLD.  NO DIALOGUE.

PAGE 20.  PANEL 3.
KALLISTE IS LAYING ON THE BUNDLE.

KALLISTE:  What was I thinking?  I’m not good for creating anything.  Atlantis…

PAGE 20.  PANEL 4.
KALLISTE IS FALLING ASLEEP.

KALLISTE:  What a foolish dream.
